Description
Morasinsi makes this IGP Puglia white in the far south-east of Italy, led by Pampanuto, a local grape valued for its freshness and citrus, with other white varieties in the blend. The wine is made naturally, with minimal intervention, and comes in a five-litre bag in box, a format that keeps wine fresh for weeks after opening because the collapsible bag stops air reaching what remains. Puglia's warm Mediterranean climate ripens the fruit fully, and Pampanuto is chosen here precisely because it holds acidity in the heat, giving a light, fresh wine rather than a heavy one; coastal breezes and cooler nights help preserve that lift. Fermentation is carried out cool and without oak, keeping the wine primary, bright and unmasked. It is pale straw in the glass. The nose is fruit-forward, with exotic fruit such as pineapple and mango alongside melon, pear and a citrus hint of lemon, lifted by a light floral note. The palate is light-bodied, dry and fresh, easy and uncomplicated, with a clean citrus finish. At 11.5 per cent it is built for straightforward, everyday drinking. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
