Montespina Sauvignon 2025

Bodegas Avelino Vegas makes this varietal Sauvignon Blanc in D.O. Rueda, on the high plateau of Castilla y León. The fruit comes from 45 hectares of estate vineyards in La Seca, Villaverde de Medina and Rueda, where Sauvignon Blanc has adapted well to the region's demanding conditions. Rueda sits at altitude with a harsh continental climate of hot days and cold nights, and this wide temperature swing preserves acidity and aromatics, while the poor, stony soils keep yields low and the fruit concentrated and balanced. The wine is made in a fresh, young style, fermented cool in stainless steel to protect the grape's aromatics and bottled early, with no oak, so the emphasis stays on primary fruit and freshness. The colour is pale straw with green tints. The nose is bright and aromatic, with lemon, green apple, elderflower and white flowers over a green, herbal lift. The palate is dry and crisp, with high acidity, a light body and a clean, citrus-driven finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
