Monteraponi make this Tuscan rosato from their youngest Sangiovese vines in Chianti, hand harvested and barrel fermented. The 2024 has a vibrant pink colour and shows fresh strawberry, raspberry and a savoury, herbal edge.
Description
Monteraponi produce this rosato under Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT, from a historic estate in the heart of Chianti with an ancient tower and centuries-old cellars. The fruit comes from the estate's youngest Sangiovese vineyards, which are tended by hand and harvested manually, following traditional methods. Sangiovese gives a rosé bright acidity, clear red-fruit aromatics and a savoury, herbal character. The grapes are gently pressed and the wine is barrel fermented, where slow oxygen exchange and contact with the lees add texture and roundness while the cool Chianti hillside fruit keeps the wine fresh and dry. The colour is a vibrant deep pink. The nose shows fresh strawberry and raspberry, with a citrus lift, a floral note and a touch of dried herbs. On the palate it is dry and crisp, with juicy red fruit, a mineral edge and a clean, savoury finish at 13% alcohol. This is a food-friendly rosé to drink young while its freshness is at its peak. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It suits seafood, white fish and lighter Tuscan dishes.
