Molinari Sambuca Extra is an Italian aniseed liqueur made to a closely guarded family recipe since 1945, and one of the better known names in sambuca. In the anise liqueur manner it carries an intense aniseed flavour over a sweet base, here bottled at 40%, stronger than many sambucas, with a fine balance between sweetness and flavour. The guarded recipe is the heart of the house style.

The nose is intense fresh star anise with fine herbs and spice, the palate full and velvety with dominant aniseed, a pleasant sweetness and light floral accents, finishing long, warm and harmonious with fine spice and gentle herbal notes. Behind the bar it works as a sweet, aromatic anise note, adding liquorice and aniseed character to a glass, and at full strength it carries its flavour into a mix without thinning out. It is classically served neat or on the rocks, and flambeed con la mosca with three floating coffee beans as an after dinner serve. Pour it ice cold, alongside an espresso, or as the anise note in a stirred drink.
