Miyagikyo Sherry Wood Finish is a no age statement single malt from Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery in Miyagi Prefecture. Released in 2018 for the global market at 46%, it follows a two-stage maturation: the spirit is first aged in Ex-Bourbon casks, then finished in sherry wood to layer additional complexity onto the base character.
Miyagikyo's steam-heated tall stills produce a naturally soft, fruity spirit, and the bourbon-led maturation contributes its typical vanilla and light cereal warmth before the sherry finish folds in dried fruit and a quiet sweetness. The result sits between the creamier, bourbon-defined standard NAS and the more fully sherried cask-strength expressions, offering an approachable introduction to the sherry-inflected side of the distillery at a measured 46%.
