Miyagikyo Rum Wood Finish is a no age statement single malt from Nikka's Miyagi Prefecture distillery, released in 2017 for global markets. The expression takes the distillery's characteristic soft, fruity spirit through an initial Ex-Bourbon maturation before a period in rum casks, bringing a tropical-fruit sweetness and molasses warmth to the Miyagikyo base.

The rum cask finish builds on the cooked and fresh fruit that the house profile already offers, deepening the sweetness with a honey-like richness and adding a rounded, warming quality to the finish. The Ex-Bourbon foundation keeps the vanilla and malt structure intact beneath the rum wood's influence. At 46%, the balance between the two maturation stages is well managed, producing a gently exotic variation on the distillery's familiarly elegant style.
