Description
Miyagikyo 10 Years Old is a single malt from Nikka's Miyagi Prefecture distillery, founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1969 in a river valley setting near Sendai. The combination of tall copper pot stills and steam heating produces one of Japan's softer malt styles, a deliberate counterweight to the robust, peaty character of Nikka's Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido.
A decade in Ex-Bourbon casks builds vanilla sweetness and gentle wood spice into the spirit's natural base of orchard and red fruit, fresh malt and a delicate floral note. Bottled at 45%, this expression sits in the core Miyagikyo range and offers a clean introduction to the distillery's quietly elegant style.
