Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, has bottled Miltonduff as a single malt for generations. This Rare Vintage 41 Year Old is a 1969 vintage matured in Oloroso, over four decades old. Miltonduff, the fresh, floral Speyside distilled beside Pluscarden Abbey near Elgin and long bound for the Ballantine's blend.

By forty-one years the sherry, oxidation and evaporation had taken the light, floral spirit to its limit, dried fruit and leather worn soft, the strength near 40%. Decades in a cool, damp dunnage warehouse pulled the strength gently lower.

At 43% it shows old wood, chocolate, dried fruit, a leathery note, a sherried depth and citrus. A 1969 Rare Vintage 41.
