Description
Adelphi, the esteemed independent revived in the 1990s, whose Limited range holds its oldest casks. This 40 Year Old draws on a 1982 vintage in ex-Bourbon, cask 3726, an outturn of 224. Miltonduff, the delicate Speyside drawn from the abbey-blessed Black Burn and long bound for Ballantine's.
Forty years in ex-Bourbon pushed the floral spirit to a fragile, ethereal depth, long oxidation and esters bringing beeswax, sandalwood and soft tropical fruit.
At 50.4% it shows deep mature orchard fruit and vanilla, undiluted. A 1982 single cask 40.
