Description
Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, has bottled Miltonduff as a single malt for generations, none deeper than the casks behind its Rare Vintage range. This 37 Year Old is a 1968 vintage. Miltonduff, the floral Speyside distilled where Pluscarden Abbey's old meal mill once stood, long a heart of Ballantine's.
By thirty-seven years Miltonduff's light spirit had become profound but delicate, old-library oak and waxy esters over fruit worn soft by the decades. The humid Speyside warehouse let alcohol leave faster than water, easing the strength down.
At 40% it shows the soft, deep maturity of a 1968 vintage over the floral fruit. A 1968 Rare Vintage 37.
