Description
A.D. Rattray, whose name traces to a firm established in 1868. This Vintage Cask Collection 34 Year Old draws on a 1983 vintage in ex-Bourbon, cask 7449, a release of 150 bottles. Miltonduff, the floral Speyside distilled where Pluscarden Abbey's old meal mill once stood, long a heart of Ballantine's.
Thirty-four years in a bourbon cask carried the light, floral spirit to the edge of its life, ethereal beeswax and ester fruit, the tannins held just short of bitterness.
At 47.3% it shows a faint smoke over deep mature orchard fruit and vanilla, undiluted. A 1983 single cask 34.
