Description
Ian Macleod Distillers, owner of Glengoyne and Tamdhu, bottles this 22 Year Old in its Chieftain's range, a 1989 vintage from ex-Bourbon casks 6, 8 and 10, 1,058 bottles filled. Miltonduff, a light, floral Speyside from near Elgin, its spirit long destined for the Ballantine's blend.
Twenty-two years in a bourbon cask, much of it past peak extraction, left the delicate Speyside make stewed and leathery, the alcohol slowly leaving for the angels. Moray's damp air shaped the long, slow loss to the angels.
At 50% it shows mature apple, pear and vanilla, undiluted. A Chieftain's 22.
