From Langside Distillers' McCrae's range, this 14 Year Old is a 2009 vintage in ex-Bourbon, 234 bottles filled. Miltonduff, the fresh, floral Speyside distilled beside Pluscarden Abbey near Elgin and long bound for the Ballantine's blend.
Fourteen years in a bourbon barrel brought balance, lignin-derived vanilla and a growing fruity-ester sweetness folding into the soft, floral character.
At 62% it shows vivid apple, pear and vanilla, undiluted. A McCrae's 14.
