From Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, this 10 Year Old is a 2011 ex-Bourbon single cask, number 900341, a release of 916 bottles. Miltonduff, the sweet, grassy Speyside raised on the grounds of Pluscarden Abbey and known as a Ballantine's workhorse.
Ten years in a bourbon barrel brought balance, lignin-derived vanilla and a growing fruity-ester sweetness folding into the grassy, floral make.
At 46% it shows orchard fruit, pear and vanilla. An Ultimate 10.
