From Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, this Cask Strength 10 Year Old is a 2009 ex-Bourbon single cask, number 701726, an outturn of 243. Miltonduff, the fresh, floral Speyside distilled beside Pluscarden Abbey near Elgin and long bound for the Ballantine's blend.
Ten years in ex-Bourbon settled the sweet, floral distillate, honey and vanilla knitting with apple and pear as slow oxidation began its work.
At 59.6% it shows hay, honey, new wood and vanilla, undiluted. An Ultimate Cask Strength 10.
