Description
Ron Millonario is made in Peru at the Hacienda Agricola de Chiclayo, working in the sweet, dessert leaning Spanish style but with a little more backbone than usual. This 10 Aniversario Cincuenta is a column still molasses rum matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 50%, the higher strength giving it more grip than the typical soft Latin pour.
The nose is fruity with chocolate, wood and sweetness, and the palate turns to coffee, chocolate, a nutty edge and plenty of sweet caramel, closing on coffee, chocolate, vanilla and spice. The thick, sugary texture keeps it firmly in comfort territory, but the extra alcohol adds welcome warmth and weight that lighter sweet rums lack. It makes a satisfying sweet sipper for those who want more punch, and stands up well in a rum and cola where its caramel depth carries through.
