Description
Mía Tinto comes from Freixenet, the Catalan house famous for traditional method cava, here working with Tempranillo grown across the broad plateau of Castilla La Mancha under the Vino de la Tierra de Castilla classification. The central Spanish plateau sits at altitude with hot, dry summers and cold nights, and that wide diurnal swing helps Tempranillo keep fresh acidity and bright fruit while ripening to a moderate 13.5 percent. The wine is made for early drinking, with little or no oak ageing, so the focus stays on primary fruit rather than barrel character. Expect a bright cherry red colour, a nose of fresh cherry, red berries and plum, and a soft, juicy palate carrying red currant, a hint of liquorice and a light peppery edge. Tannins are gentle and the finish is clean and uncomplicated. Serve lightly chilled at around 14 to 16 degrees in an everyday glass. It suits casual meals such as grilled pork, roast chicken and tomato based pasta.
