Description
This reposado from Mi Tierra carries the same valley of Jalisco lowland foundation as the blanco, made at the Tequilera de la Barranca de Amatitan, the house Dona Ana Rosa Carrillo founded in 2000. It is a 100% agave tequila, here rested eight months in French oak casks, the tighter, spicier oak that lends subtler vanilla and a little more grip than American oak.
Production follows the house method: agave cooked in a stone brick horno, milled on a roller shredder, fermented with the agave fibres and double distilled in pot stills, then brought to 38% with the distillery's own spring water. The French oak adds a hint of vanilla over the spirit's clear fruit and herbal character, with fruit, herbs and gentle sweetness leading the palate. The agave core stays present beneath light, well judged wood.
