Mezcal Olvido Divino 1984 Añejo 30 Jahre – Limited Edition

Mezcal Olvido Divino 1984 is an Espadin anejo distilled from Agave angustifolia and laid into European oak in 1984, when a young Jose Villanueva Barragan asked his family to set part of a Veracruz delivery aside to mature. Seventeen barrels were filled that year, forgotten in the most sheltered corner of the cellar, and rediscovered three decades later. Only five casks survived the long sleep, yielding this hand signed, dated and numbered bottling at 42%.
Three decades in wood have pulled the spirit to a deep copper with golden glints, the colour of a distillate left far longer than any mezcal usually sees. The nose layers herbal and gently smoky agave with walnut, almond and hazelnut and a sweet seam of fine oak, while the palate follows that thread of nutty, cask softened agave. This is mezcal pushed toward the weight and patience of an aged spirit, a true rarity born of an accident of memory.
