Description
Meteoro Espadin is a joven mezcal made entirely from Espadín, the second label of the Marca Negra house and its younger, lighter spirited reading of mezcal tradition. The name nods to a legend in which the agave hearts are steamed in earthen pits lined with meteorite rock, a story that frames an otherwise straightforward pit roast.
That underground roasting is where the smoke and ember come from, not from any peat, and it pushes the spirit towards an earthy, grounded character. The palate is markedly herbal and earthy verging on mineral, with hints of liquorice and wood threading through the smoke. Bottled at 45%, it keeps the proof common to expressive joven mezcal, which carries the Espadín's herbal weight and roasted sweetness without dilution. It reads as honest and rustic rather than polished.
