Description
Meisner Russische Schokolade is a chocolate liqueur made by Robert Meisner in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, in northern Germany. It joins the rich flavour of chocolate to the depth of Jamaica rum, sweetened with brown sugar, and is bottled at a full bodied 31%. The combination of chocolate, Jamaican rum and brown sugar is the heart of the recipe, giving it a warmth and depth beyond a simple cocoa liqueur.
The nose is intense chocolate with a hint of vanilla and subtle rum, the palate full and creamy with dominant melt in the mouth chocolate and a pleasant sweetness, finishing long, soft and harmonious. Behind the bar it works as a chocolate body and dessert ingredient, adding cocoa richness, sweetness and a rum warmth to a glass. It is classically infused with hot water and finished with a dollop of cream for a warming winter drink, and it lifts an Espresso Martini, a Mudslide or a dessert cocktail just as well. Pour it warm, over ice or over ice cream.
