Description
The Kurayoshi Special 2023 Release is a limited annual expression from Matsui Shuzo in Tottori prefecture, bottled at 43% for the Japanese domestic market. The Special designation marks it apart from the standard aged-statement range, presenting an NAS blended malt finished or matured in Oloroso sherry casks rather than the bourbon wood more common in the regular Kurayoshi lineup. As with all Kurayoshi expressions, the malt may draw on a range of stock sources.
Oloroso sherry maturation brings dark dried fruit, fig and raisin alongside roasted nut and gentle dark chocolate, giving this bottling a markedly richer, more aromatic character than the standard Ex-Bourbon Kurayoshi expressions. The 43% strength keeps the delivery measured and food-friendly. Released only in Japan, the Special 2023 offers a seasonal sherry-cask interpretation of the house style from Tottori, distinct from the everyday range.
