Description
Mas Llunes works in D.O. Empordà, in the north-east corner of Catalonia where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. This is Tramuntana country, its dry northern wind keeping the vines healthy and concentrating flavour, while the sea moderates the heat and the stony, sandy soils drain freely. Maragda Blanco is a blend of Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo, two grapes long grown here, farmed organically and picked young for freshness. The wine is fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures and kept off oak, a method that preserves primary fruit and the grapes' natural aromatics. Garnacha Blanca lends body and a subtle stone-fruit weight, while Macabeo brings floral lift and crisp acidity. The colour is bright straw. The nose is clean and fruit-led, with green apple, white peach and white flowers over a saline hint. The palate is light to medium in body, fresh and dry, the fruit finishing on citrus and a coastal salinity. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees as an aperitif or with food.
