Martini Bianco 1 Liter

Martini & Rossi, founded in Turin, is the brand whose name has become shorthand for vermouth itself. The Bianco is a pale, aromatic style built on a white wine base, fortified and aromatised in the Italian tradition. Vermouth is made by infusing a neutral base wine with wormwood and a wide set of botanicals, herbs, roots, flowers and citrus peel, so that their bitter and aromatic compounds pass into the wine and alcohol before the blend is sweetened and rested. In the Bianco the balance is tipped towards floral, vanilla and citrus aromatics rather than the darker spice of a rosso. The colour is radiant golden. The nose is led by soft vanilla, with a fresh lift of lemon and orange and a herbal undertone. The palate is light and aromatic, the wormwood bitterness kept in proportion, finishing clean and citrus fresh. Serve well chilled over plenty of ice with a slice of lemon, or lengthen it with soda or tonic as a long aperitif. It also pairs with grilled white fish, roast chicken and a board of hard, nutty cheese.
