Description
Mars 2015 (LMDW) is a single cask single malt from Mars Shinshu, Hombo Shuzo's Central Alps distillery in Miyada, Nagano, selected and bottled by La Maison du Whisky for an event release in 2019 from a 2015 Ex-Bourbon cask. The independent bottler's selection, at four years of age, gives a precise, unmediated view of the cask's contribution to the clean Nagano new make.
Bottled at 60% cask strength without reduction, the whisky delivers citrus and vanilla as its primary notes, a profile consistent with well-managed Ex-Bourbon maturation on a clean, light-bodied mountain distillate. The high altitude and cool climate of Miyada slow the maturation relative to lowland sites, keeping the spirit fresh and the wood integration measured. La Maison du Whisky's event bottlings from Mars Shinshu have been consistent reference points for the distillery's single cask character.
