Marques de Caceres makes this pale Rioja Alta rosé from Garnacha and Tempranillo. Vegan-friendly and bottled young, it shows fresh red fruit, violet and a subtle balsamic edge over a delicate, dry and crisp finish.
Description
Marques de Caceres Excellens Rosé comes from Rioja Alta, where the Forner family draws on generations of experience moving between French and Spanish winemaking. It blends Garnacha Tinta, which gives red fruit and a little body, with Tempranillo, the backbone variety of Rioja. Rioja Alta is the coolest, highest part of the region, with an Atlantic influence from the Cantabrian mountains that brings cold nights and a long growing season, conditions that preserve acidity and allow a pale, fresh and aromatic rosé. Clay-limestone soils at altitude keep the fruit balanced. The style is built through gentle pressing and a short, cool fermentation that protects the delicate aromatics, then bottling young to keep the primary fruit bright and intact. The wine is suitable for vegans. The colour is a pale, luminous pink. The nose shows fresh red fruit, strawberry and cherry, with floral hints of violet and white flowers and a subtle balsamic undertone. The palate is light, dry and crisp, with citrus freshness, white peach and a clean finish. Serve well chilled at 8C in a white wine glass. It suits salads, white fish and lighter poultry, or works simply as an aperitif.
