Description
Marcel Deiss Riesling comes from the biodynamic estate at Bergheim, in the heart of Alsace, where the family works twenty-seven hectares across nine communes on the philosophy that the terroir leads the wine. This Riesling is drawn from two contrasting sites, one on a filtering limestone surface and the other on heavier soils, a blending of terroirs that is central to the Deiss approach and gives the wine both aromatic lift and depth. Alsace lies in the rain shadow of the Vosges, a dry, sunny climate that ripens Riesling slowly and fully while cool nights preserve its cutting acidity and aromatic precision. The wine is fermented and aged in wood, a low-intervention élevage that adds texture and a subtle savoury weight through lees contact rather than oak flavour, keeping the fruit and minerality to the fore. The colour is bright gold. The nose shows lemon, white peach and apricot, lifted by white flowers, honey and chamomile. The palate is textured and dry, the ripe fruit carried on firm acidity to a long, mineral and faintly salty finish. Serve at 10 to 11 degrees in a white glass.

Additional information
A fine match for grilled sea bass, oysters or a plate of charcuterie. The acidity and gentle richness also handle mildly spiced Asian dishes and fresh goat cheese.
