Description
Marca Negra Ensamble is an Oaxacan joven mezcal that distils three agaves together: Espadin (Agave angustifolia) for a sweet, solid base, plus the wild Mexicano (Agave rhodacantha) and San Martin, which bring spicier, more complex notes. Marca Negra is a high proof, single village house known for bold, undiluted bottlings, and an ensamble like this layers the species into one spirit rather than blending finished mezcals.
The agaves are pit roasted and double distilled in the traditional artesanal way, then bottled at 47.5% so the texture and intensity carry. The nose leads with mineral notes of spring water and wet stone, herbs, resin and anise. The palate turns fruity and fresh with grapefruit, banana and medlar, then savoury and earthy with fennel, cocoa, peanut and a gentle bitterness, finishing soft and long with a mineral edge.
