A gentle Tahitian cane juice rum from Manutea, floral and citrus-led over fresh sugarcane and a touch of nutmeg, distilled on a column and softened to an easy 40% that leans more cocktail than contemplative sipper.
Description
Manutea Tahiti 40 is an agricole-style white from French Polynesia, made by the Manutea distillery from fresh sugar-cane juice rather than molasses. Tahiti sits well outside the protected agricole zone, so this is cane-juice rum in spirit rather than an AOC bottling, and at 40% it is pitched as an approachable everyday pour rather than a high-proof statement.
The creole column keeps the grassy, sappy cane character in the glass, here framed by floral and citrus aromatics with a fresh, lightly candied palate and a nutmeg-flecked, sugarcane finish. The lower strength dilutes some of the snap and tilts it toward mixing, where its bright cane and citrus make a clean base for a daiquiri or a long, fresh highball rather than a slow neat sip.
