Mano a Mano is a Tempranillo from VT Castilla, grown on over 40 year old vines on limestone, clay and sandy soils in La Mancha. Six months in French and American oak give a deep, juicy red with blackberry, plum and a cocoa edge.
Description
Mano a Mano is a single variety Tempranillo from the V.T. Castilla in La Mancha, made by the winery of the same name. The grapes come from vines more than 40 years old growing on a mix of limestone, clay and sandy soils, in a zone of combined Mediterranean and continental influence. Yields per vine are kept very low, which sharpens the focus of the fruit and lets the character of the different soils show in the glass. Winemaking follows traditional methods, and the wine ages for six months in French and American oak barrels, a short ageing that softens the tannins and layers vanilla, toast and a light cocoa note over the ripe fruit. The colour is deep cherry red with violet undertones. The nose leads with blackberry and ripe plum, with cocoa, violet and a savoury earthy hint. The palate is full and juicy, with rounded tannin and a fresh finish that keeps it drinkable. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees with grilled red meat, roast lamb or a mushroom dish.
