Description
Manner Original Neapolitaner Creamlikor is an Austrian cream liqueur bottled at 15%, made at the Alt Wiener Schnapsmuseum under the F. Fischer 1875 name as a liquid take on the famous Manner Neapolitan hazelnut wafer in its blue and pink wrapper. It folds the nutty hazelnut and cocoa character of the Viennese classic into a dairy cream emulsion, so the wafer flavour reads through a soft, sweet base. The Neapolitan wafer is the whole idea, a recognisable treat reworked as a liqueur.
The nose carries hazelnut, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla and a hint of wafer, the palate soft and creamy with a harmonious blend of chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla and a light sweetness that echoes the original, finishing smooth and long with a fine hazelnut note. Behind the bar it works as a dessert and body ingredient, adding nutty chocolate sweetness and a creamy texture, which suits it to a chocolate hazelnut martini, an Alexander riff or a pour over vanilla ice cream. Serve it neat or over ice to show the texture. As a cream liqueur it is a dairy product once opened, so keep it cool and use it reasonably fresh.
