Sancho Rodríguez and Ángela Zozaya make Manin y sus Muchachos from century-old organically farmed vines in the Sonsierra. Perdidas en el Mariñanas is a Garnacha-led field blend, vinified naturally as a table wine, vibrant and fresh with raspberry, blackberry and herbs.
Description
Manin Perdidas en el Mariñanas is a Navarra red from Manin y sus Muchachos, the project of Sancho Rodríguez and Ángela Zozaya. They farm four hectares of century-old vines organically in the Sonsierra and bottle outside the appellation system as freely styled table wines. This bottling is led by Garnacha with a field blend of other red and white varieties grown together, picked and vinified as they stand. Old vines naturally yield small crops of concentrated, balanced fruit, while the cool nights and varied soils of the Sonsierra preserve acidity and freshness. The wine is made naturally with minimal intervention, fermented in separate containers over twelve months, the co-planted white grapes adding aromatic lift and a lighter texture to the red. The result is bright ruby, with a vibrant nose of raspberry, blackberry and red currant over dried herbs, rose and a stony earthiness. The palate is fresh and energetic, with fine tannins, vivid red fruit and a clean, savoury finish. Serve lightly cool, around fourteen to sixteen degrees. It suits lighter meats, poultry and herb-driven vegetable dishes.
