Description
Mandarine Napoleon Grande Cuvee is an orange liqueur with a history tied to the era of Napoleon Bonaparte, the legend telling of a liqueur of fine mandarins and Cognac favoured at the imperial court. The modern liqueur, made by De Kuyper, marries hand picked Mediterranean mandarins to matured Cognac, refined with carefully balanced herbs and spices, and is bottled at 38%.
The nose is intense mandarin with candied citrus fruits, fine spices and a hint of Cognac, the palate velvety smooth with a balance of sweet mandarins, vanilla, nutmeg and light oak spice, finishing long and elegant with lingering citrus freshness and fine spicy nuances. Behind the bar that Cognac depth sets it apart from a clean triple sec, adding richness, oak and a spiced mandarin character to a drink. It works neat or on ice as a digestif, and adds a refined fruity depth to a Sidecar or a Mandarine Spritz.
