Mampe Halb & Halb Bitterlikör

Mampe Halb und Halb is a traditional bitter herbal liqueur from Mampe Berlin, named for its perfectly balanced blend of sweet and bitter flavours. Made for over a century to a secret recipe using selected herbs, roots and spices, it has long been a fixture among German herbal and bitter liqueurs, and is bottled at 31% for an intense yet harmonious character.

The nose carries strong herbal notes with orange peel, gentian and fine spices, the palate full bodied and balanced with a blend of sweet and bitter herbal flavours underpinned by a subtle citrus note, finishing long, spicy and slightly bitter with a pleasant warmth. Behind the bar its balance of sweetness and bitterness makes it a useful herbal modifier, adding a bitter backbone and a citrus edge that cuts sweetness and lengthens a drink. It is enjoyed neat or on ice, and works well as a Mampe Tonic with tonic water and an orange zest, which brings out its herbal notes.
