A Panama ron built on cane juice and given a spiced treatment, tropical and yellow fruit over a chocolate, nutty, brown-sugar palate, column distilled at 40%, a soft and sweet eight year old pour leaning gently spiced.
Description
Malteco's 8 Years comes from Bodegas de America in Panama and, in this Spices & Rum guise, takes the brand's soft cane-juice base toward a sweeter, gently spiced profile. While most Panama ron is molasses-based, this one is distilled from sugar cane juice, giving a slightly different fruity lift under the familiar mellow style.
Column distilled and bottled at 40%, it leads with fruity, yellow and tropical fruit aromas, then turns to chocolate, a nutty edge and brown sugar on the palate, finishing sweet and woody. The character is soft and clearly sweet, leaning into an easy, dessert-friendly profile rather than a dry or structured one. A gentle, fruit-and-chocolate Panama sipper for drinkers who enjoy a sweet, lightly spiced ron and are not chasing a lean or spirit-forward style.
