A 1991 vintage Panamanian ron from the Malecon label, column-distilled from molasses in the soft Central American style, a long-aged Seleccion Esplendida bottled at a gentle 40%.
Description
Malecon Seleccion Esplendida 1991 is a Panamanian ron carrying an old vintage, made from molasses on a column still. Malecon draws on Panama's well-known stocks, much of it flowing from the Varela Hermanos distillery, and works in the soft, mellow Spanish style.
Long ageing in the house style usually deepens the vanilla, caramel and dried-fruit character while keeping the spirit light and approachable. Bottled at 40%, this should be a smooth, after-dinner pour rather than a powerful one. The maturation detail is not specified and added sugar is not disclosed, so expect a rounded, gently sweet Panamanian profile shaped by its years in oak.
