Maison La Mauny VSOP

Maison La Mauny VSOP is an aged agricole from La Mauny, the heritage Martinique distillery at Riviere-Pilote with roots to 1749. The VSOP tier under the AOC means at least four years in oak, and this is a dependable, accessible aged expression aimed at everyday drinking.

Distilled from fresh pressed cane juice on a column still and matured four years in oak, it keeps a light, cane forward character. The nose offers spice, vegetal cane, orange peel and fruit, the palate turns to vanilla, spice, fruit and pepper, and the finish stays on tobacco, spice, vanilla and dried fruit. At a gentle 40 percent it is light yet flavourful for its strength, with a clear cane juice backbone and a faint floral side, a good value way to test the aged style that doubles neatly as a cocktail base for an agricole Old Fashioned.
