An unaged white rhum agricole from La Mauny, the heritage Rivière-Pilote house dating to 1749, distilled from fresh-pressed Martinique cane juice on a Creole column and bottled dry and unsweetened at 40%.
Description
Maison La Mauny VO Vintage comes from one of Martinique's largest and oldest agricole houses, founded at Rivière-Pilote in 1749 and working within the island's protected AOC. Like all true agricole, it is distilled not from molasses but from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice, run low on a Creole column still to keep the grassy, vegetal character of the cane in the spirit.
No tasting notes are recorded for this bottling, so expect the house style rather than a specific promise: the dry, herbaceous snap typical of Martinique cane juice, with fresh sugar-cane sap, white pepper and a saline edge. Bottled unsweetened at 40%, it is built for a classic Ti' Punch with lime and a little cane syrup.
