Description
La Mauny is one of the largest agricole houses on Martinique, with heritage running back to 1749 at Riviere-Pilote. This vieux, bottled for the Association des Planteurs, is distilled from fresh pressed sugar cane juice on the island's rum AOC and aged three years, the minimum for the vieux tier.
Three years of warm climate ageing carries a Martinique agricole into early maturity, layering vanilla and light spice over the grassy, peppery cane core. Tropical ageing tends to show maturity beyond the stated age. Unsweetened and bottled at an approachable 40 percent, this is a dry, accessible aged agricole, equally at home sipped neat or stirred into a classic island serve.
