Description
Maestro Dobel Humito Smoked Silver is a 100% Blue Weber blanco made at NOM 1122, the historic La Rojeña distillery of the Cuervo Beckmann family in the town of Tequila. It is an unusual release: a clear, unaged tequila given a deliberate smoke character meant to recall sixteenth century Jalisco distillation.
Unlike mezcal, where smoke comes from roasting agave in underground pits, tequila agave is steam cooked, so the smoke here is introduced separately using mesquite wood rather than drawn from the cook. That keeps the Blue Weber base intact while layering a smoky thread over it. The nose is a gentle, sweet bouquet of caramel with maple and honey, overlaid with the scent of freshly cut mesquite, and the finish lingers with roasted nuts and vanilla. Bottled at 40%.
