Description
Madrugada Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from Mexico, its name the Spanish and Portuguese word for the hours between midnight and sunrise. Built in partnership with Marco Jauregui Huerta and brought to Europe by founder Steffen Merk, it is a straightforward, agave forward blanco drawn from carefully cultivated agave grown for around eight years and harvested by hand.
As an unaged blanco it shows the agave plainly, with no oak in the way. The nose leads on pronounced raw agave that is mineral, earthy, spicy and grassy. The palate is agave driven with citrus, a herbal bite, a touch of bitterness and pepper. Bottled at 40%, it has enough body to drink neat yet holds up in long drinks, where it has been paired with grapefruit tonic, and in cocktails. It is a clean, direct expression that keeps the focus on the cooked agave itself.
