Macnair’s Exploration Rum 2006

Macnair's Exploration Rum 2006 is a Panamanian ron drawn from a single 2006 vintage and bottled at fifteen years, a more serious expression than the brand's younger releases. It carries the mellow Panama signature but with the depth that extra years in cask bring, presented at a firmer 46%.

Distilled on a column still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it shows the soft, vanilla-led Panama style lifted by age. The nose is sweet with vanilla, chocolate and a flash of mango, the palate turns nutty and warm with vanilla and chocolate, and the finish runs woody and sweet with orange and dark cocoa. It is accessible and rounded with a gentle bittersweet, oaky depth, more characterful than the entry-level Panamanians while keeping the easy approachability the country is known for.
