Lynus Infante Roble is the youngest red from this Ribera del Duero estate, made from Tempranillo picked early for freshness. Aged just six months in French and American oak, it is bright and juicy, with red cherry, raspberry and a light vanilla edge.
Description
Lynus Infante Roble is the entry red from Lynus Vinedos y Bodegas in Ribera del Duero, made to show the freshness of the fruit with only a light touch of wood. The Tempranillo grows on the region's tertiary soils over the high Castilian plateau, where a marked continental climate brings hot days and cold nights. To keep that freshness the grapes are harvested by hand and picked earlier than the estate's bigger wines, avoiding long, powerful ripening so the fruit stays bright and the alcohol stays in check. Ageing is short, around six months in a mix of French and American oak, enough for slow oxygen exchange to round the tannin and add a measured vanilla and spice note while leaving the red fruit in front. The wine is bright cherry red with a nose of red cherry, raspberry and plum over vanilla, liquorice and a faint earthy note. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy and supple, with soft tannin and a fresh, clean finish. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, lightly cooled if you prefer. It is an easy, versatile match for grilled pork, roast chicken and charcuterie.
