A Cuban seven year old from the Eminente house, soft and rounded with caramel, vanilla and roasted coffee over light wood, leaning gently sweet and roasted at 41.3%, an accessible step up for neat sipping with dessert or a cigar.
Description
Eminente Reserva 7 is a Cuban anejo produced at Cuba Ron S.A. and bottled by LVMH at 41.3%, a column still rum from molasses aged seven years in the Spanish style. It sits in the smooth, approachable lane of Cuban ron, built for easy drinking rather than intensity, and pitched a touch drier and more roasted than the sweetest names in the category.
With the column still keeping the new make light and clean, the ex-bourbon oak and a roasted character carry the flavour. The nose shows caramel, vanilla, light wood and a hint of chocolate, while the palate stays soft and slightly sweet with coffee, cocoa and roasted notes coming through on the finish. It is harmonious and gentle rather than dynamic or complex, the kind of bottle that rewards an unhurried glass neat, alongside dark chocolate or a cigar.
