Description
Eminente Gran Reserva Edition n2 2025 is a 10 Year Old Cuban ron from the LVMH owned Eminente brand, distilled at Cuba Ron S.A. and finished as a single cask in Sauternes wood. Unusually for the island it is built around sugar cane honey rather than straight molasses, and it stays on the dry side of Spanish style, with no added sugar and a Sauternes finish doing the talking.
Column distillation keeps the Cuban spirit light and clean, while the wine cask brings depth without dosage: raisin, vanilla, dried fruit and honey on the nose, then a savoury palate of leather, dried fruit and a salty, bitter twist, closing on honey and leather with a touch of tobacco. The result reads as a dry, food friendly Cuban with a wine led personality and a little grippy tannin, best taken neat after dinner. A good pick for drinkers who like the smoothness of the style but want something with less sugar and more structure.
