Description
Luxardo has made liqueurs in the Veneto since the house was founded at Zadar in 1821, best known for its Maraschino but also for this limoncello. Lemon peel is macerated in spirit to release its essential oils, then sweetened and bottled at 27%, in the traditional southern Italian style.
The nose is intensely fresh with dominant lemon, the palate fruity and aromatic with lemon zest, a gentle sweetness and a clean citrus finish. It works behind the bar as a bright, sweet lemon note: serve it frozen and neat as a digestivo, build a Limoncello Spritz with Prosecco and soda, or add it to a lemon drop, a collins or a sour for extra zest. It is equally good over lemon sorbet.
