Description
Lunazul Anejo is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from the Tierra de Agaves distillery in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, a house founded by Francisco Beckmann of the seventh-generation Jose Cuervo family. As an anejo it has spent more than a year in oak, which is why it leans toward a richer, whisky-adjacent register and appeals to bourbon drinkers.
The agave is steam cooked and the spirit double distilled in small batches for a softer texture, then matured twelve to eighteen months in former bourbon barrels. American oak gives the amber colour and pushes vanilla, caramel and roasted agave on the nose, with dried plum, almond and toasted oak behind. The palate is full bodied, carrying butter toffee, walnut and nutmeg against a peppery agave undertone, closing long, warm and gently spiced.
