Loxarel Cora 2025

Loxarel is a fifth generation family winery on the Can Mayol estate in the Penedes, farming around fifty hectares under biodynamic principles. This aromatic white blends Muscat with Xarel lo, the native grape of the region best known from Cava. The Penedes has a mild, warm Mediterranean climate with rain across the year, which ripens the Muscat fully to bring out its perfume while the cooler influence keeps the wine fresh. Muscat is one of the few grapes whose wine smells distinctly of the grape itself, rich in the floral terpene compounds that give white flowers, peach and orange blossom, and here it sets the tone. Xarel lo adds body, a herbal lift and the acidity to keep everything in balance. Made young and unoaked to protect those aromatics, the wine is bright and expressive, with white flowers, almond blossom and vineyard peach on the nose, a light touch of sage, and a dry, fresh palate with a clean finish. Serve it well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees as an aperitif or with light dishes.
