Alfredo Maestro makes this natural Albillo from vines planted between 1891 and 1910 in Castilla-León, at 770 to 1000 metres. Unoaked and vegan, it shows white peach, pear, citrus and a fresh, herbal minerality.
Description
Lovamor is a single variety Albillo from Alfredo Maestro, made under the Castilla y León regional designation. The fruit comes from very old vineyards planted between 1891 and 1910, spread across different orientations, altitudes between 770 and 1000 metres, and varied soils, which together give the wine its layered character. Farming and cellar work follow a natural, low intervention approach, and the wine is vegan. The high altitude and continental climate bring cold nights and a wide diurnal range that preserve freshness and aromatic detail in the ripe fruit, while the century old vines give low yields of concentrated grapes. Made without oak and with minimal handling, the wine keeps its primary fruit and a textured, faintly grippy feel typical of Albillo and of the natural style, with wild yeast fermentation carrying the site character through. The colour is pale straw, occasionally with a slight natural haze. The nose shows white peach, pear and lemon with white flowers and a dried herb, stony edge. The palate is dry, fresh and medium bodied, with ripe orchard fruit, lively acidity and a saline, savoury finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees. It suits grilled fish, shellfish, salads and roast chicken.
