Description
Louis Latour has grown vines in Burgundy since the seventeenth century and, across eleven generations, has become one of the largest holders of Grand Cru land in the Cote d'Or. This Premier Cru comes from Blagny, a hamlet set high on the slope above Meursault where the elevation and cool exposure lend extra freshness and cut. The soils are limestone and marl, the classic Cote de Beaune base that gives white Burgundy its structure and stony length. The Chardonnay is aged twelve months in French oak barrels. Barrel ageing and lees contact build the wine's texture and nutty depth, while the malolactic fermentation softens sharp malic acid into rounder lactic acid, producing the creamy, buttery weight typical of fine Meursault. The colour is bright gold. The nose layers lemon and white peach with hazelnut, oak spice, beeswax and toasted bread. The palate is full and savoury, the ripe orchard fruit framed by fine oak, with honey and roasted nut over a long, mineral finish held together by the site's elevation. Serve at 12 to 14 degrees in a large glass.

Additional information
Classic with lobster or crab in butter and with meaty fish such as monkfish and turbot. The nutty, buttery weight also suits roast chicken and creamy sauces, and matches aged Comte or Gruyere.
